A wound can’t close over dead or unhealthy tissue. Debridement is the careful removal of that tissue — one of the most important steps in getting a stalled wound moving again.
When dead tissue, thick buildup, or debris sits in a wound, it blocks healing and feeds infection. Removing it — gently and appropriately — exposes healthy tissue underneath so the body can do its work. Our clinicians choose the method that fits the wound and the person, and keep it comfortable.
Debridement is rarely a one-time thing; it’s part of ongoing wound care. We handle it as part of a full plan, not in isolation.
